Day 1, 25 September
A delegation of the Stichting Sovjet-Russisch Ereveld left for Uzbekistan today. First by car to Paris. Then from Charles de Gaulle airport with a direct, six hour flight to Tashkent.
On this eleven days fact finding mission, Mr. Cemetery Remco Reiding is accompanied by treasurer Ruud van Heel, girlfriend Caroline Schouw and chairman Alex Engbers.
In the coming days Reiding and company will attempt to trace the names of the 101 Uzbeks that were killed in Kamp Amersfoort and lie buried in the Russian War Cemetery. It will be like searching for a needle in a haystack, but we have been assured that the Uzbek authorities are going to assist in this quest.
In the next eleven days we will report on our mission in this diary.
Cemetery on tour.
