The Foundation Soviet Military Cemetery has been nominated for the Golden Terebinth, a national prize for an organization that has made special efforts towards preserving funerary heritage. Whether or not the foundation will receive the prize will become clear on 8 February.
In its report the preparatory working group pays tribute to the Foundation Soviet Military Cemetery. “Summarizing the working group concludes that this candidate not only meets all the criteria of the Golden Terebinth, but that the project has a much broader meaning. The essence being that it is an example of compassion, whereby barriers are broken down, prejudices brought down. In a period of international tension between the Netherlands and Russia (think of MH17) this project offers hope for a better world. “
There are two other nominees to choose from.
